Floate for video calls and meetings

Meeting notes that float over the call.

Switching to a notes app during a call means looking away from the people you're talking to. Floate keeps a note on top of your video call, so you can write down names, decisions and follow-ups while you're still part of the conversation.

Stay in the conversation

Press ⌘⇧N and a note opens on top of Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime or Slack huddles. Park it beside the video and keep eye contact while you type.

It stays on top even when the call or a shared screen is full screen.

Share your screen, keep your notes to yourself

Click the eye icon at the top of a note to hide it from screen sharing. You keep seeing it on top of everything, but it won't appear in your Zoom, Google Meet or Teams screen share, in screen recordings or in screenshots.

It's a switch on each note, so you can keep your talking points private while a shared agenda stays visible to everyone.

Follow-ups you won't lose

Type / for a to-do list and capture action items the moment they're agreed. Use headings for each topic so the notes are easy to skim afterwards.

Private by design

Floate doesn't join your calls, record audio or send anything to a server. Your meeting notes are saved as files on your Mac, in a folder you control.

Several notes at once

Keep an agenda in one floating note and live notes in another. Each note floats on its own, so you can arrange them however suits you.

How to do it

  1. Join your call as usual.
  2. Press ⌘⇧N to open a note on top of it.
  3. About to share your screen? Click the eye icon to hide the note from the share.
  4. Write down names, decisions and to-dos as they come up.
  5. Close the note when the call ends - it's already saved in your library.

Questions

Does Floate record or transcribe my calls?

No. Floate is a note-taking app: you write the notes. It never records audio or video, and your notes stay on your Mac.

Will other people on the call see my note?

Not if you hide it. Click the eye icon at the top of the note and it's left out of screen shares, recordings and screenshots, even when you share your whole screen - you still see it. If you share a single window, your note isn't part of it either way.
