Floate for lectures and online classes
Lecture notes that stay on top of the lecture.
Online lectures don't wait for you. Every time you switch to your notes, you miss a sentence, a slide or an equation. Floate puts your notes on top of the lecture itself, so your eyes never leave the screen and the video never stops.

Write while the video plays
Press ⌘⇧N and a note appears over your lecture, whether it's on YouTube, Canvas, Moodle, Coursera, Zoom or a recording your professor uploaded. It stays on top even when the video is full screen.
Drag the note to a corner where it doesn't cover the slides, resize it, and keep typing. When the lecture ends, the note is already saved.
Structure without stopping
Type / to add a heading for each topic, bullet points for the key ideas and a to-do for the reading you were just assigned. Your notes come out organised enough to revise from, without fiddling with formatting mid-lecture.
Paste a screenshot of a slide straight into the note, right next to what you wrote about it.
Draw the diagram, not a description of it
Supply and demand curves, circuit diagrams, a cell, a timeline. Add a canvas inside your note and sketch it with your trackpad or mouse in seconds, the way you would on paper.
A folder for every class
Every floating note also lives in the Floate library. Make a folder for each subject, find any note with ⌘K, and open it full size when it's time to revise for the exam.
How to do it
- Open your lecture and start it playing, full screen if you like.
- Press ⌘⇧N to open a floating note on top.
- Type / for headings, bullets, checklists or a canvas as you go.
- File the note in your class folder when the lecture ends.
